JGLS 2028 here, specifically targeting competition law and Delhi-based (not looking to move to Mumbai unless absolutely necessary).
Here's my internship lineup so far:
- Trilegal Delhi (disputes team, was sitting next to the competition team; thats why im now interested in competition law and i took an elective on competition law in mergers control)
- CCI — June
- JSA Delhi — July(rn m&a team ill have to change for comp again which one is better nisha’s or vaibhav’s? one associate who left jsa said vaibhav’s for better ppo chances)
- Khaitan Delhi — December
A few things I want to understand better:
1. I've heard JSA has a three-internship policy before they even consider you for a PPO — is this still true for the Delhi competition team specifically, or has that changed?
2. Khaitan Delhi — multiple people have told me they don't really give PPOs in Delhi (especially competition), and that most of the team actually sits in Noida anyway. Is this accurate? Should I even be pushing for a PPO there or just treat it as a learning internship?
3. Is Chandhiok & Mahajan worth seriously targeting for a competition PPO? It seems like the strongest Delhi-native competition boutique but I don't see much discussion about their intern-to-hire conversion rate.
4. SAM Delhi competition team — how contact-dependent is it really to even get in?
5. AZB noida competition team — how contact-dependent is it really to even get in?
6. Is staying in Delhi for competition law a viable long-term call, or is Mumbai just unavoidable if you want to grow in this practice area? (Mumbai cost of living is a genuine concern for me as a fresher.)
