Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council permits OCI cardholders to register. As long as the your citizenship country permits Indians to practice law you should be fine. The MHA notification is valid enough grounds to permit you to do so.
If I recall correctly - they don't ask for any additional documents- except your OCI card, and they make you swear an extra affidavit stating that you will not commence practicing in another jurisdiction whilst you continue to practice in India.
What documents did you submit to register as an oci advocate at the Delhi bar council. Is there a list of documents they ask for?
I would like to know a few things about your post could I contact you for a short discussion. Thank you.
Could I please contact you I’ve looking for some advice regarding the OCi practice, thank you
This response isn't the type of response you expect from somebody who alegedly is a lawyer.
Long rant. Simple response.

Like it there then stay there. Whenever someone outside two feet in separate boats, they drown.
You can enroll the same way as Harish Salve and Gopal Subramanium have done it. Both British citizens and OCI card holders.
Do you mind my asking how you managed to take up a foreign citizenship? Via parental/ancestral heritage? Because the way you have worded this doesn't sound like you've worked extensively abroad or anything.

Thank you so much! I intend to enroll in a south indian state (thankfully not TN). Hope it works out :)
Understood, this makes perfect sense.

Thank you so very much for all the analysis, this is genuinely reassuring :)
OCI want the best of both worlds. Life ease of abroad but money and property from here. Stay at one place..
a notification was issued more than a decade back permitting the treatment of OCI at par with Indian citizens for the purposes of Advocates Act.
Bar Council. Foreigner. Practice.

Remind me of old LI times.

I miss Kian.
You need to be an Indian citizen

OCI card holders, by definition, are not Indian Citizens
Hi, i am an OCI card holder, graduating this year. Any fellow OCIs from the batches of 2024 or 2025? I could really use your help in figuring out how / if at all we can enroll with our respective State bar councils. Any and all tips/advice is appreciated. TIA!
