Insane, how come none of those 10 internships converted to a callback/assessment man? Or have you also done and lost on multiple callback/assessment Internships? Because only in the second case would I attribute it to shitty luck

Depends on your college, selected area to intern in and vacancies of the teams you interned in, and your work performance. Also, publications have little to do with getting a T-1 job, but it’s good you have them.

If you want a T-1 job, maybe shift practice areas. If you want to get into a specific practice area only, maybe try for T-2s and T-3s and work your way up. If you haven’t been able to convert 9-10 experiences (not sure if this also includes callbacks, but if not then this applies even more) indicates that your work performance is probably not up to the mark. If possible, ask your mentors from easier internships for feedback and work on it.

I hope it works out for you, the markets haven’t been kind to us and don’t think will be for a while going forward!

Welcome to the field, i was in a same position in my final year, this field does not reward your merit until and unless you are from a top tier NLU or have a solid reference. That said, please do not be disheartened, you will get there, this is temporary.

I'm sorry, but this might also be the time for some reflection. The bar for an intern is very low — just show up, do what is asked, ask questions for whatever you don't understand, read, stick to the timelines, and with baseline competence and good communication skills, the work itself will get you a callback — or in worst case scenario, at least a valuable reference. You then do the callback and get the job. I don't have a family background, and I did 7 internships during my law school, 2 of them during the initial years, followed by whatever Tier 3 & tier 2 firms I could find through the references from the prior internships. Overall, I received 5 PPO offers.

If you've done 10 internships — and not received an offer from any of them — then there's got to be something you're not doing right. Getting nothing out of one or two internships could be attributed to luck.

That said, it's now time for you to try reaching out to the people you've worked under and request if they'd be willing to refer you to someone they know. People in the industry have been where you are, and this is the test of whether you did everything right. If they do, make the most of it. If they don't, it's time to set the frustration aside, go back to the drawing board, and apply incessantly while accepting that you didn't do your best previously, but are now going to reach there.
