I’m a 2025 law graduate currently practicing in Delhi across the Delhi High Court, Supreme Court, and district courts. I’ve been working for nearly a year in the chamber of an AOR, gaining exposure to litigation and court procedure.
I’m now considering applying to Tier 1 law firms for a position in their disputes team. However, I do not have Tier 1 law firm internships. My internship experience includes firms such as Economic Law Practice, Phoenix Legal, Barucha, and Crawford & Bailey, but not directly with disputes teams there.
Given this background, I wanted to understand:
- Whether Tier 1 law firms typically consider candidates with around one year of PQE in litigation practice for associate roles in their disputes teams.
- How much weight is given to prior internships versus actual court practice experience in such transitions.
Additionally, I have a related query regarding a colleague:
- A friend of mine, also with similar PQE, is practicing in a relatively new and lesser-known chamber. How might this impact his chances when applying to Tier 1 law firms?
Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
