HNLU has a lot of alums placed in extremely well-to do positions. If they could do it with a fraction of the resources the college possesses at present, I see no reason why the present batches would not get into similar positions. Hnlu peeps get jobs beyond AZB. So many of our seniors past and present have been placed in firms like Trilegal, SAM, CAM, JSA among others. Yes, a lot of credit has to go to their own efforts and hard work. However a lot of them landed that job because the RCC managed to laboriously mail these firms for internships in the first place (Exceptions do exist, not everyone gets a job due to the RCC). If they could do it despite the T2 tag, you could do it too.
HNLU is no decline as of now. To contrary, I believe the college is currently going through a really good period. Numerous moot wins and qualifications, mid rankers bagging great jobs, the 3rd and 4th years bagging really good internships with latter having started converting them into PPOs very recently. If they could do it, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to do the same. Yes, the college has some problems; the admin being the biggest of them all. However, despite the structural limitations, the college seems to do well and possibly better in the future.
As someone who has close friends in the other T2s and in a few T1s, unlike a lot other colleges (especially in the T2 range), the senior-junior culture is largely healthy. There's a strong culture to get into corp across batches and its hard not to find someone who hasn't attempted to specialise in specific practice areas may it be disputes, gen corp, comp law, or even TMT. If they could do it, what's stopping you?
Choosing the college wouldn't necessarily meaning closing the doors on the onset, more accurately you leave the door ajar. The college gives you a few opportunities to work upon. To fully open the door, you'll have to work; sometimes you'll have to work harder than your peers in T1 NLUs to get the same opportunities. This is the sole reason why T1s are T1s, and T2s the T2s. The door is ajar, if you're smart about how you structure your academics, your internships, and ultimately your work ethic, nothing will stop you from opening that door. Countless alums have done it in the past, seniors are doing it in the present, and many will be doing in the future.

Try to get into some T1 from Vacancies because yes there is an opportunity gap between T1(s) and T2(s) when it comes to corporate jobs
I will be going to HNLU this year. When I see people mention their T1 colleges and talk about future prospects, I can't help but feel a little disheartened. I have been seeing a lot of people say that it's declining and that one should just totally abandon Tier 2 and only aim for Tier 1. What adds to this concern are the scarce placement stats that I have seen regarding the college - it has mostly been AZB as the sole T1 offering campus placements. Closing doors from the onset scares me a bit. I don't know if the situation has improved or will improve.
Another question in my mind is whether or not I should take another chance with CLAT (will be my third time if I would). I basically see these things as my future options:
1. Continue with the college despite some reservations and whatnot. Here, I think I might have to make peace with the possibility of moving to a T1 after a job or be confined to a handful of T1 firms.
2. Take a partial drop. However, I don't trust this enough as I feel like that pressure of doing well in college might linger around in my subconscious at the very least and I might end up messing up both. Apart from this, the problem that I encountered on the exam day just seemed like something that I couldn't have anticipated, it was one extremely convoluted sentence that I just couldn't decipher even after re-reading it again and again, which costed me T1 NLUs. Though I now know how I could've tackled it but it seems like there always will be one unforeseen thing for me to trip on the exam day (happened in my first attempt as well with an unexpected AR question).
P.S. - I know that this is a forum for professionals but I feel like I can get some real information from people who are at least already in the field here. In other places, it's mostly just aspirants giving advice to one another.
