Anyone who focuses exclusively on the name of the university rather than the contents of the thesis isn't a serious academic anything. That includes you.
Nah. I wouldn’t take a NLUO PhD as a serious academic whatsoever. A NLUD PhD will have way more market credibility.
Getting semester abroad and doing credible research are not the same thing. Stop conflating privilege with quality.
That's because you lived in a bubble. I personally know at least 5 NLU alum currently pursuing their PhD from places like UM, ANU and others.
Absolutely try for a JRF. You may also try IITs and IIMs. But they wouldn't be a pure legal research.
NLUO provides a stipend to all its scholars. Something that should be demanded by other NLU scholars as well. Even central universities give non-jrf scholars stipend. Hell even private universities are better with the stipend. Phd is not you llb where you only pay fees.
For someone who can't avail a JRF, NLUO is better since they provide a stipend. Doesn't happen in NLUD. I rather get 30k per month for 3-5years rather than paying only from my pocket. At the end both will get a PhD degree. One, being well financed. The other being broken AF.
JRF. National fellowships. ICSSR. Institutional fellowships. IIT/IIM. These are the main options
PhD scholar at Jindal here. Just came back from Australia. Didn't meet one NLU scholar here. Surprisingly met a Amity fellow, but he had an exceptional work experience. So I don't know which NLU bubble you live in, but Jindal is doing more research than any NLU kid would.
Jindal scholars and faculty are getting a whole semester abroad in UK, US, Netherlands, Australia etc as we speak. Maybe you need to keep up with current times. Just last semester my own cousin went to Oxford for a joint Collab. Stop believing it's 2010s and NLUs dominate.
Not at all. It's all hype. It hasn't produced any good research since most of its good faculty have left. The Bajpai regime has finished whatever RS had built. It's just one other NLU now with a good location.
The Ratio of people who get stipends is very low unfortunately.
NLUD is in a completely different league, regardless of how it functions.
Thank you for your reply, what you are saying makes complete sense, fellowship is extremely important as due to leaving my job, I don't want to spend the next three years with no safety net. I'll keep this in mind.
Jindal doesn't have any good reputation for research, sorry to burst your bubble.
any suggestions you can give please on someone who wants to do his masters from abroad, i am a final year student :')
Good job, Mod! People who don't understand the meaning of a post, in this case the importance of getting a stipend to pursue PhD, and are juvenile enough to consider an entrance test as a marker of quality, should be rightly marked as trolls.
Comparing NLUD to NLUO is just criminal. Clearly, someone is still bitter about never getting through the admission test. Please mark this trollish, mod.
