X - Almost exclusively NLSIU alumni, maybe the first couple of batches from NALSAR. No CLAT. No coaching centre culture. Small batch sizes. Tough hostel life. No Internet for early Gen X batches. Jobs for all.
Y - Newer NLUs mushroom. No CLAT for early Gen Y batches, then CLAT comes in along with coaching centre culture. Initially small batch sizes, then expansion. Jobs for most. Greater digitalisation. Some NLU VCs involved in serious corruption — VCs of NALSAR, NUJS, NLIU, HNLU etc kicked out after protests.
Z - More NLUs and more seats, but lots of reservation — thus increasing competition. Excellent learning facilities compared to previous batches: lots of online resources. NLU crowd becomes less elite, more people from modest backgrounds. Start of culture wars, wokeness. Many NLUs rocked by #MeToo student scandals. Covid big disruptor. Tough job scene.
