Which brings me to the big question: Is Shashi Tharoor now a free agent on borrowed time within the Congress-I? Or does he, in fact, enjoy the quiet blessings of a parallel family faction within the proprietary folds of the Congress-I—allowing him to proceed undeterred? A part of me is tempted to believe that he does enjoy the blessings of Sonia Gandhi, who finds herself, understandably, caught between a rock and a hard place.
