"Nice try fed" is a comment you may stumble across on fora and social media. It's a satirical, somewhat derisory remark and it implies that the original poster is a federal agent (hence the term "fed") or really, any authority figure, masquerading as a lowlife to gather intel. I'm telling you this because it seems that you could do with a little catching-up with Gen Z lingo.
