There was a corporate lawyer in โฎโฎโฎ who was regularly donating mega bucks to the TMC through electoral bonds right from the time that scheme was introduced.
This was even reported by Legally India, and nothing came of it.
Naturally, you'd assume he must have been some ultra-connected senior equity partner with decades of experience under his belt. But let me bring you back to reality. At the time, he was a newly minted partner at a โฎโฎโฎ-one โฎโฎโฎ corporate firmโโฎโฎโฎ

This law firm is small and most people wonโt even have heard of it. He pays his juniors 10K a month. ๐
A Tier-1 partner with children typically earns between โน60 lakh and โน1.5 crore a year. Spending โน15 lakh on a childโs birthday on that income isnโt โlavishโ โ itโs arithmetically unwell. Even if you generously double the income, it still requires either heroic financial illiteracy or inherited money doing the heavy lifting.
Yes, some partners come from serious wealth. Homes bought by parents, luxury cars, the full starter pack. That cohort has existed long enough to now be equity partners. And even they understand the concept of proportion.
Is that the norm now and expected from everyone to keep up appearances? Not trying to be a hater. It would have been my dream come true if I had a party like that when I was a child. ๐ But still seems like a lot to spend on.
