Seems like Jurisphere for all its marketing belongs squarely in the camp of a highly exaggerated wrapper. Wish we had better players in the space.
All modern AI applications are built on APIs that call the same general use models, and provide some supplementary information in the context of these models. Jurisphere/Lucio do not have their own "specifically trained in Indian legal data" models, they just provide this information to the same Gemini/GPT/Claude models you can use through the API. There is no moat whatsoever.
Seeing a lot of chatter around Lucio, Jurisphere, Harvey, Legora, August, but wanted to ask for the users' perspective on whether they are anything more than simple wrappers.
While they do seem to offer useful functions, the underlying AI logic is just a wrapper for the newest Gemini/GPT models, isn't it? Is there anything their internal logic can do that Gemini/ChatGPT cannot?
How much do they usually bill firms for this? I ask because unless the rates are nominal, is it not more efficient for Tier 1 firms to invest in internal talent to just build the same tools?
Legora seems to be the only one focusing on building more than a wrapper, as well as this new startup DeepJudge that has popped up. Are there no Indian legaltech options that are more than just wrappers?
