But his parents had to get certain textbooks from Russia for him. They were IAS officers, and they asked the Russian embassy to send English copies of those books for their son. The guy used his privileges, but topping JEE is not a joke either.

Took me a while to decipher this comment. Very witty and absolutely bang on (although only older alumni will get it). There's a whole ecosystem at work that favours nepo kids to get such scholarships. Favoured internships, reference letters and finally the interview, conducted by some family uncle or aunty. Can also cite a case of a certain NLU alum who briefly taught at NUJS (again, only older alumni will know).
You can gauge their merit when you look at their publication records: 😅🙈🤡. Literally 1 small journal article in 10 years!
