While he's joining a PE fund, what does it mean for S&R next? ▮▮▮ what was he like in general? Isn't this a hit to the Mumbai office?
▮▮▮. Real rainmakers don’t quit — they defend & scale their book. Everyone else just… exits stage left.
Going by everything you’ve said, a cultural reset seems to be the need of the hour — and if that marks the end of his innings, then so be it.

He didn’t jump ship — the crew finally realised who drilled the holes.
So one more corporate equity partner gone. S&R seems to be going back to becoming a capital markets boutique firm.
Confirmed now by Bar and Bench. In about a year’s time, Viral, Mohit, Sudip, Prachi, Lakshmi, Raya have left. That’s about half the corporate practice (in terms of number of equity partners) plus a few others in other practices. A lot to discuss in Sri Lanka.
The least you can do is not make it obvious who you are.
There's nothing to "discuss" at SL. Its onwards and upwards with whats available. You've hardly scratched the surface with that body count.
Nine EPs have left. That’s intense. Not sure when did a firm this size see this kind of lack of belonging. They need to re-evaluate. Seriously.
When is this now? Do they need a complete reset maybe?
He seemed to have a good name in the market too...
The firm should have taken serious measures back when brilliant lawyers like Tanya and Shivaji left the firm - that should have been a wake up call.
You’re right. The cynicism will kick in once these bright folks realise their peers in Tier I firms make far more.
Tanya and Shivaji left to go inhouse. Some of you all need to really stop speculating and smelling smoke where there's no fire.
S&R is partying in Sri Lanka, they don’t care about you LI gossipers.
