career transition from legal to less reputed profession
I have been working as a legal consultant in for a real estate firm. One fine day one of my relative who works as a sales manager in a real estate firm, approaches me with a proposal to start a channel partner company (real estate broker). Thereafter, I started researching about it, I get to know that this is a typical percentage-based broker business having good returns after closing high value deals in city like Mumbai. Considering the factor that he is a leading sales manager and I being the real estate lawyer could be the perfect mix of leaders to start our Entrepreneural journey and scale it to unparallel heights through our skill, expertise and knowledge of real estate industry. After considering all the factors and risks involved I left me reputed legal profession and started as a sales manager with a view to gain some expertise in sales and marketing profile for one year before starting our own venture. After joining the job, I am now getting mixed feelings, not because I'm not doing good in it but because I feel the loss of dignity, respect and social status I use to have as a lawyer. My family and wife have gone against me. I feel now that I have downgraded my profile and made a wrong decision as I am sitting and surrounded by people who are much less educated than me and lack class and wisdom. Though I am a misfit here, the only thing keeping me going in this profile is my larger objective to start an entrepreneurial journey. In view of the aforesaid, I am now confused as to whether I should face the brunt and risks coming in path to become an entrepreneur or shall I get back to my legal dignified reputed legal profession and continue to climb a stable, risk-free, secure corporate ladder. Note-financial status is ok, not sound.
