While NKC goes for a phased media campaign to counter student propaganda, the SJA remains engaged in thumb twiddling and making and making laughable threats. The GB cannot even throw these charlatans out despite the failure to produce the much hyped documents that conclusively prove financial wrongdoing by NKC. How abt getting the recently graduated Prez and her beau (VP) to come clean on accounts and details of IOU traffic with NKC?

A GB full of headless chickens and sheep is feast for the Lecters in SJA, faculty and admin ranks. On Oct 16 when the EC will do zilch and the VC will throw a few morsels to SJA for onward transmission to GB, then we will see how the planned student action begins from Nov 1.

NKC will not resign on Oct 16. He will be given an honourable exit. Even PIB got one and the illegality of SAK continuing as Registrar for years also did not get recorded in the minutes. Ofc it is a different matter what was verbally discussed and why SAK scooted.

It is time to disband the SJA.

These are not good reasons and more importantly not legally actionable reasons. You could query though that UGC does not have a rep in the committee. But check given the numerous times state gov, governor and centre clashed on this.

The big question is where is the much promised smoking gun? Does SJA have it? Show it or resign en masse. Doesn't matter which faculty hearsay was acted upon. Out the faculty too.

And so the cat comes out of the bag and gets set among the pigeons. Clearly those chanting SC intervention can stop because the SJA completely messed up. Justice DD already suspects that this student action was motivated and when he asked the SJA couldn't deliver with damning evidence against the VC. Why do you think VC had his horsemen around him despite the hue and cry? Because they knew the corner spot DD had taken and the farcical fight of SJA, which clearly had no good intentions. Now the CJ designate is expected for convocation and the VC has signalled his intention to depart. So now he will be given an honourable exit by the VC as if this was all churlish stuff instigated by certain faculty members, which isn't exactly untrue.

The VC issue is kinda settled. It is now time to scrutinize the role of SJA brass. They should all be thrown out en masse. Because they are charlatans and allowed known manipulators in the faculty to sabotage GB. Most importantly their heads should roll for not producing documents that conclusively prove allegations of financial mismanagement by NKC. Just like no one believes NKC, it is equally hard to believe that SJA wasn't his conniving partner and a beneficiary.

Clear from the interview that he will resign only until a new VC is appointed, to avoid the taint of forcible resignation. Around 30 days to go, so he will drag and delay. But even if he did resign now, his term is almost over. The students are 6 years too late in protesting. They should have protested on day 1, when he was appointed ahead of VCV.

I agree that nkc needs to leave. But your questions aren't relevant in this context for him to answer. He didn't form the search committee, EC did. Most EC members are nominees of external authorities, VC doesn't appoint them, so the blame lies with such authorities for lack of quality nominees. No NLU or any other Indian university involves alumni for faculty recruitment or admin policies either. NUJS isn't the exception, but very much the norm. It should be changed, yes, but not doing so is not the same as not doing one's job. There are plenty of things that the VC was supposed to do, but didn't. Talk about those.

1. Complete non-transparency in VC appointment. NLSIU’s VC appointment panel had KK Venugopal, MP Singh and the DYC. Why not here?

2. Why the NUJS governing body had eminent legal luminaries of national standing in the Left Front years but is today filled with mediocre TMC lackeys. People on the governing body during the Left Front years included KKV, Justice Ruma Pal, former SG Dipankar Gupta etc etc.

3. Non-involvement of alumni in college functioning and faculty recruitment.

It’s such a tragedy that Kian isn’t around any more! During his time, LI was an activist website that held VCs accountable.
