You seem rather sure that taking silk in London was ever GS Sir’s “dream.” If you know this for a fact, then either cite the source or seek it out before posting. Otherwise, this reads as idle trolling — the voice of an insecure critic, envious and resigned to never matching GS Sir’s stature as counsel.

Yes, because pursuing anything in London is no more feasible. Read up on abolition of "non-dom" in the UK. Due to this, H. Salve has also moved out to France. In short, the abolition means that people like GS and HNS will have to pay UK taxes on their Indian earnings. Well ofc they wouldn't be fine with that. Rishi Sunak and his wife are to blame for that.

Nakul Dewan became a King’s Counsel without relocating to the UK, didn’t he? I don’t think his move for tax reasons and his KC status are as intertwined as you’re suggesting. In any case, his return is good news for all of us — there was a real void of senior counsel of that calibre in the Supreme Court. That said, I’d imagine his fee structure will attract more high-stakes arbitrations and juicy commercial suits than special leave petitions!

Buddy sorry you're clearly ill-informed about why Nakul became a KC. It was only for his int'l arbitration credentials in arbitrations based out of the UK - had nothing to do with his litigation or advisory practice, because he doesn't have any in the UK. Contrast this with GS's presence in the UK - the man barely does any arbitration based out of the UK, and will do even less of that now that he's moved to India (because of the non-dom abolition). Appreciate your confident answer, but it doesn't reflect any knowledge of how the KC application form looks like, or how the interview for a KC works.

How busy is HNS compared with his contemporaries on the international arbitration circuit? I’ve often wondered. Most of the cases of his that make the news seem to have an India connection. Also, how relevant is France in the broader international arbitration landscape?

He's fairly busy because he's friends with people who own the businesses that arbitrate - his business is not going away anytime soon. France has no relevance to the international arbitration landscape - he's moved there because it's close to the UK, saves him taxes (which the UK doesn't anymore), and is suitable for his current partner.

First, how do you know that he has a dream of becoming a KC/QC? Second, even if it were true, and he is not going to SC, what is your concern? In terms of law, what is your locus standi? Are you here to do faltu ka gossip?
