The argument that language will be a barrier and local representation will be overshadowed can also be made for bureaucrats (selected for All India Services) who can be either PHD holder or a mere degree holder from a dummy college; with exceptional command over a discipline to mere jack of all trades, master of none.
Further, the state PCSJ exams already allow for application to be filled by candidates from all over the country. E.g. - Many UP judicial candidates that have been selected are those who are from outside the state.
At the present time Collegium system and their mode of appointment of judges to HC, SC or even elevation is marred with- nepotism controversy, transparency issues, inconsistency and unwillingness of Centre that pauses it for years.
What is everyone's opinion on AIJS?
Furthermore, after the 44th amendment the Janta Dal govt. or NDA govts. could have abrogated it, but they didn't which speaks for itself that AIJS is something that all parties can get behind.
At the present time it is definitely in need of the hour.
