How can NUJS issue an ad for VC without appointing a selection committee? Will a selection committee not even appoint the VC this time?
you make it sound like but for NKC NUJS would have been something like Harvard. With the kind of sub-standard faculty it has this journal looks like its decent. the 'high' standards were already set long back by the environmental law professor and his two or three journals.

browsing through these forums help me realise jsut how bad legal education in our country is. the OP seems clueless about the existence of statutes and delegated legislation which lay down these things. can a committee frame requirements in conflict with that?

I thought the NUJS Act had set certain requirements for the search committee. if it is not constituted in terms of that, the whole process will come illegal.

but no worries, NKC can continue in the interim.

Please do not keep displaying your ignorance and lack of comprehension. The CJI does not always send a judge as his nominee. In this case, the NLU VC mentioned above is the CJI's nominee.

There is a reason why the members of the selection committee have not been publicised. Their appointment is downright illegal and can be challenged before courts.

NUJS is turning into Hazra Law Colllege and the SJA is 200% complicit.

Rathin or JK Das will get the post, so why bother appointing a committee? I don’t think anyone other than these two will even apply, because they know it’s pointless. This is not NLSIU. It’s a direct appointment made by a cabal of TMC politicians and their henchmen.

Technically, the appointment is at the discretion of the government. So they can simply delegate the matter to the advocate general and ask him to choose.

One interesting fact in the NUJS ad is that like NLS, they have restricted the applicants to those below 60 years only. This should keep old VCs away.

The committee has been formed for over a month. Everyone connected with NUJS is aware of it. Simply because you are ignorant of it, that doesn't make it non existent.
