Quite good, considering that the batch still has many months left to graduate. Let's also remember that probably the majority of NLSIU students are not eyeing Indian law firms. Most want to go abroad, join the IAS, join litigation etc. Their role models are people like V Niranjan Tarunabh Khaitan, Menaka Guruswamy, etc. Congratulations also to those who have secured UK training contracts!

Overall, great performance, so well done!

The probably part is not true at all. 90% of NLSIU students intern in Indian law firms and would certainly love to get a job there. The overall performance is good for most NLUs, but not according to the NLS standard. The slipping that had already started placement-wise since 2018 is now out in the open.

Wow. People are delusional if they think this is good. Out of the 40ish PPOs, nobody knows how many were actually faciliated by RCC, or were secured through contacts. But good on them too; It's all about getting a foot in the door and as long as you do well at your internship, it doesn't matter if it was faciliated by the RCC or through personal contacts. Also, be rest assured more than 70 percent of the junta here wants to join law firms, at least initially to recover ROI after spending close to the same amount one spends on a decent MBA degree.

The batch is of 120 people. You said that more than 70% of people want jobs. RCC had claimed that 82 people were there in RCC, which is close to 70% so I don't think anyone disagrees on that front. As for PPOs, 1 PPO was from outside RCC, while 39 were through RCC.

The job market is really bad. The RCC is bringing in more opportunities, and hopefully the rest 20-22 odd people will get placed by the end of this academic year.

I'm not negating the work done by the RCC, I'm pointing to something that RCC cannot control:- We are no longer being seen as preferred pool of students from where recruiters would like to hire. Not because we are any less than students from other colleges but because we don't get time to intern as often as students from other colleges do. Most firms have moved to the PPO model of hiring and our rigid attendance policies make it difficult for us to intern. The academic load also does not help, I don't know if it's my experience alone, but in a lot of classes we are taught some useless things. We also have plenty of core useless courses and the less said about electives the better. Just an example: food making and capitalism was an elective this time around.

No, the vast majority of Law School students do not want to be slaves of desi law firms. Please don't think that what is true for other colleges is true for Law School.

These are honestly bad numbers for the oldest NLU in the country and the one with the most alums across law firms. And frankly, it’s only going to get worse for NLS with the exponential increase in batch size. As has been said many times before, NLUD and NALSAR should be preferred over this place any given day, especially NLUD.

How much bitterness that you didn't get to do the BCL + MPhil at Oxford on the Rhodes and get to go back for a DPhil (forget about Rhodes, that you even failed to secure a place at all!). Okay, I understand if you hate the VC because of your inferiority and inverted snob complex, but why take out your spite on the entire uni?

NLUD has been having bad placement since inception despite a small batch and now with more than twelve batches having graduated. It's not at all a place to go to if one wants a job.

It's good enough considering the nepotistic tribalistic practices of law firm hiring. NLS, unlike NLUD, has many partners at the recruiting level and still keeps falling short. NLUD has much better prospects.

Makes no difference, NLUD has almost entirely the same opportunities as NLS as far as recruitments go and its quality is as good, if not better, given the smaller batch size now. And no needless domicile quota and whatnot. You’ll be competing with lesser students and will naturally have more opportunities to get placed if you’re a half decent student.

LMAO. Why will students of a law school that has produced KCs, judges, Oxford professors, IFS diplomats, Magic Circle partners, TIME 100 honorees and Infosys Prize winners aspire to work as associates in CAM and SAM? 😄 Only a few looking to raise funds for study abroad (and with grades not high enough to get a scholarship) would do that.

Please don't compare NLSIU students with students of other colleges.

The batch size in NALSAR is greater than NLS, and the placement process is still going on in NLS as well. It goes on till the last person is placed.
