IP guy here - IP is way over saturated unless you're willing to settle for meagre prosecution work. Hard avoid.
can others attest? (making career choices here)
Why will you be replaced, doesn't Trilegal have a lot of mandates for capital markets right now, atleast according to the Bar and Bench IPO report
The number of dashes and your incorrect use of ? and punctuations barely makes your case as a C2 stronger, let alone allow people to believe what you're saying. Good try again. I like how this is a platform of students guiding students.
Do you think MBA after PQE of say, 8-9 years is a viable option? Specially from USA / Europe?
If you have to study law, do a BBALLB, followed by an MBA. Thank me in 10 years.
Grass is always greener on the other side. Though you seem the fear monger kind
Grass is greener yes. Though I wouldnt disrespect a seasoned professional IN the law firm saying this, and attested by people I have spoken to who are partners. Yes business is there, but not too much.
Honestly, the way you've articulated this reinforces OP's post - wouldn't you say that the inflated number of corporate lawyers is feeding into increased competitiveness and client expectations expectations?
Yes, they pay would cross that. However, there is no way that the demand keeps up with the supply. The competition will only get worse with each passing year. PE markets are cyclic, it'll only get worse before it gets better.
lol who even does corporate law. its clerical job. you people aren't lawyers.
Lol. Shows you know nothing about corporate law or even clerical work for that matter.
Points noted but I don't think anyone ever doubted that litigation or chamber work has pathetic pay. The topic is corporate law (in firms), so stick to that yeah? Thanks
Bro AI use karna band karo. Honest advice - it strips the originality that makes a petition endearing.
Is the stituation actually bad or is it just fearmongering? What I know is PAs may not get promoted but they are not asked to leave.
Huge shortage of LLM qualified lawyers in this area. I encourage all of you to pursue LLM.
Wow. Looking at all the comments here, I now feel grateful to have my simple in-house job and don't feel jealous of high-fliers any more!

FYI mine is a 10 to 6 weekday job, paying 50 lakhs a year before tax -- no rental costs.
Mine is a four hour per day job, occasional 2 hours needed on weekends. Pays 45 LPA pre tax. Even got my own place now. Takes about 30 minutes travel from home to work using public transport.
Why don't you guys also mention your PQE? Are you blissfully choosing to do that because you know people with your PQE are minting crores per annum, or because you know kids half your age make your wage in 1-2 years?
How many years of pqe is getting you 50LPA. A1 here, looking to switch in-house at the right moment.
In-house is dangerous. If your company faces a summon from DGGI, DRI, Income tax, ED, etc. as the legal counsel you're the one fronting it. Most of these authorities have arresting power and good luck navigating such situations.
Aren’t there more MBA colleges than law schools?
My cousin graduated in 2005/2006 from NLSIU and got an offer of Rs 75,000 (CTC) a month as a fresher in a company. 20 years later, the same company is now offering nearly the same CTC salary to freshers.
Then it's a shitty company and your cousin made a bad decision.
I'm definitely late to the party, but the bo26 at nlsiu got placed with a median of 21 lpa
Can anyone having a decent amount of experience answer if one should really worry for future starting at a not so famous tier-5 firm and with no room for experimentation. Is litigation in local city better?
Agree with needing more rigour and professional grooming but fail to see the relevance of these subjects. In fact, the entire LLB component should be made specialised apart from basic subjects such that students can either choose to learn only corporate law or only public law
Yes, because "hard-core finance" is always so very rigorous. You do know that many universities actually offer Economics as a BA course, right? Stop peddling your uninformed ideas about education, people better than you are in charge of making such decisions.
Has always been the doyen of glorified clerks, and a useless area, which has no respect.
