Why is criminal force and hurt in general not a cognizable offense ?
Trauma has nothing to do with it. Generally speaking, crimes like these do not require 'investigation'. They can be prosecuted privately. It's the crimes which are more grave or require investigation — again, generally — that are cognizable.

I don't understand. In the kind of situation you describe, there is a prima facie case of assault, potentially? So what exactly is the problem in your view? Is the bar for it too high, in your view? If so, why? How could this be solved?

The ones that are cognisable are the extreme variants of it. But why isn't the general ones not cognizable ? Crimes like those clearly cause trauma e.g a male house worker getting attacked by their employers.
