As for the entire "graduates who have moved abroad" thing, in typical overseas destinations (like UK, U.S. etc), whatever they'd be doing (like an LLM or whatever) wouldn't start until August or September. This would mean that they wouldn't have even moved by this time, yet! Therefore, even within the "graduates who have moved abroad category", we have a further sub-category who might not be able to participate: those who've gone for summer vacation schemes. So unless somebody is trying to say that the NALSAR graduating cohort is largely comprised of students who obtained summer vacation schemes at London law firms...
This has nothing to do with poor students and EVERYTHING to do with being self centred and entitled. At least own your shit.

In furtherance of the concerns raised by the SBC, we, the undersigned students of the Batch of 2025, write this email to express our disapproval of the administration hosting the Convocation at such short notice. This is nothing but insensitive and will exclude students from weaker economic backgrounds from participating in such an important event in their lives.
The administration should take cognizance of the fact that such short notice will cause extreme economic duress to families. On average, the following expenses will fall on each student-
1. Last Moment flight tickets for parents and students coming to Hyderabad- (8000 average)- 24000 INR
2. Last-Moment flight tickets for parents and students returning from Hyderabad- 24000 INR
3. Cab Charges- 10000 INR
4. Accommodation Charges for one night stay- 4000 INR
5. Food and other Miscellaneous Expenses- 5000 INR
Total- 67000 INR
We hope the administration realizes that arranging a sum of ₹70,000 within just 10 days is a significant challenge for many Indian families. This short notice, unfortunately, makes the process feel exclusionary and risks preventing some of our loved ones from being part of one of the most meaningful milestones in our lives. Further, with the dates clashing with peak monsoon season, there is a high probability of their flights being cancelled altogether. It is disheartening to think that their years of unwavering support and sacrifice might go unacknowledged at a moment meant to celebrate all of our journeys together.
Thus, we hope for the administration to either change the dates for paying for our expenses.
We do understand that the administration may cite the dates shared by the Hon’ble Chief Justice’s office as a constraint. However, we emphasize that Convocation is meant to honour the achievements of the students and their collective efforts, not merely accommodate the schedule of the Chief Guest. The essence of the occasion lies in the inclusion of those who undertook the journey, as well as those who made our journey possible. While we are honoured by the presence of a distinguished guest, we believe the essence of the event must not be compromised.
Hence, we request the administration to engage with the Chief Guest’s office to explore a feasible rescheduling so that this event remains a celebration for all, not a privilege for a few.
How is it not inclusive ? It’s a date for convo - how is it discriminating ? Which demographic is it excluding?

Now, students are preparing a protest letter to the Chief Justice of India, and the SBC has refused to assist with convocation logistics in protest. The batch calls the move “unplanned, exclusionary, and disrespectful.”
