a week down, there was a selection for HSF organising committee and i think one prime selection criterion in a team was typing 🙏 i may be beat the bests today in that but it was certainly not the case then, because i had no conditioning of laptops. at the end, you’ll learn if you use laptops regularly?
I type extremely fast. Both on laptop and on the keyboard. I recommend you learn full hand typing, extremely useful.

I always recommend using an external keyboard, preferably a mechanical keyboard with brown switches for an excellent tactile typing experience. Fewer errors, faster typing and fingers feel like they have had sex. I recommend Keychron Keyboards and Ducky Keyboards, beware, they are an expensive rabbit hole though. Cheers, all the best!!!
What really slows down the typing is distraction and breaks. So see if you can jot down the broad points of what you want to type before you type.
And of course - please avoid typing with 2 fingers. People who do that look silly - but caveat lector - some people go through their entire lawyers lives just typing with 2 fingers, and manage just fine.
I think at PQE 0 / Internships - having reliable and fast typing skills gives a good advantage. When I feel my speed is lacking, I practice on 10fastfingers or some similar sites.
It is an easy skill where the only cost is practice and repetition - I don't think any innate skills or talents are needed. So it is a good skill to have.
Currently my peak is 138 wpm on monkeytype :)
