honestly, finding a t-1 law firm or corp job at Symbi would require you to be at the top of your batch, probably amongst top 10. That means consisent efforts through 5 years of law school without any room for slack. If you have the confidence to pull that through, go ahead. But if not, remember there's no brand value or backup you can rely on from college. Also, once you move, it would be difficult to prep for CLAT because a totally different environment in a diff city would take some time for you to settle in, and once you do start living with new people, preparing for a competitive exam would be difficult. And preparing for CLAT means you are compromising on academics which might take a dip in the first sem. Risky situation, very difficult to pull through CLAT prep there.

Now, if you are actually serious about CLAT and want to give it a shot, you could join a local college in Cal like CU or Xavier's. There are CU alums who are working in law firms, so their perception isn't all that bad. And the attendance requirement is pretty low+ you would be at home which gives you quite a bit of time to prep for CLAT. Fees would be negligible, so won't matter either. And honestly, if you do prep sincerely for a few months, you would easily end up with a decent rank. Ultimately, you would at least be somewhere like NLUO or RMLNLU at worst and a t-1 like NLS or NUJS. I think the second option makes more sense, but again, if you are not quite "take a drop" type and want to go live the Symbi life, you could give that a shot as well.

B) is a good option, have personally done it and work at a Tier 1 now. However, the race for joining a T-1 from SLSN is too tight and filled with uncertainties. It is not recommended if you have to take a major loan for it. You'll do better joining a local college and preparing again for CLAT. However do keep in mind that it is better to drop than try and prepare while having exams assignment etc. because the course work in first year will feel overwhelming.

As someone who was in your shoes and made a very bad decision to join SLS Noida for the brand value. Just don't. However, I would also like to add one thing that SLS Noida does offer 1 thing which you won't find in local colleges and by local i include those IP University associated colleges too as I have lived with people from such colleges. It is competition. personally, I need a competitive place to thrive or I will become complacent in the bare minimum. I am a person who can self study but only if i know people around me who are doing much much better than me. The feeling of defeating them thrills and motivates me. I know it sounds psychopathic but it is what is it. So that is something you will get at SLS Noida. When we talk about placements there are barely 30 placements out of more than 300 students.

Hii. Just got done with my 12th, gave clat in december last year, got a shitty rank, might fetch me t3s in vacancy but not relying on it.
I also got in christ blr but missed the payment daedline. Now the only options that i have left are local colleges in kolkata and sls noida. I never really wanted to come to this legal field in the first place, but basically my family wants me to go for law school. My only goal for right now is to secure some sort of decently paying corporate job and stay as far away from court practise and judiciary exams as possible. The way I look at it, I have to ways of going about it

a) Join local college and prepare for CSEET and CLAT, in case i fail to secure good clat rank again I can go ahead with company secretary course

b) SLS Noida, work my ass off to get some internships and ultimately secure good PPO. (maybe try for clat again, tho idk with the all the shifting and adjusting if thats gonna be possible)

Another thing to keep in mind is SLS noida is a bit expensive for us, we might need to pay a part of total fee with loan, and I dont know if its even worth that price. Like sure it has "location advantage" and "Symbiosis brand"(if that even is a thing), the fear of not securing a job kills me. What should be my course of action in this scenario?
