I'm in my fourth year at a non-NLU and have an upcoming assessment with the Corp team at a regional office of a Tier 1 firm. This is my only opportunity as I don't have any other internships lined up and lack industry connections to fall back on. The team has previously mentioned that they’re unsure about hiring more people since they’ve already taken someone from my year, but informed me recently that they have not finished hiring for my batch. I really want to secure a PPO from this assessment, and although I know that the team rarely gives out call-backs unless they want to hire, there are a few others from my year who have also been given assessments for the same month considering that the office is notoriously known for hiring just a handful of people every year. I’m feeling really anxious about this, especially since the partner conducting the interview has a reputation for being intimidating. I have been working really hard these past few months to leverage my placement prospects - CV-wise, I have national and international mooting achievements with some good publications and essay competition wins, while my GPA is pretty average, unfortunately. I would truly appreciate it if people could advise me on how I can excel in this interview and maximise my chances of getting hired, especially because I don't really come off as affable in general. I'm always in awe that some people can yap well and build better rapports with Partners, etc, and I've never managed to do so - so maybe any advice in that regard would also work. I'm really sorry if I'm coming off as desperate, but I can't help it :((
