A0 here, working at boutique capital markets law firm. It's been 8 months now and I am in a moral dilemma about the career path. Before this, I was working in Gen corp and M&A for about 1.5 years. I made a switch since I wanted to streamline my prospects in corporate law into one particular practice area. After sometime in my current organisation, I realised that it would be difficult to scale from here. Though the work is good and qualitative, the work culture, office politics and general atmosphere is an absolute shit show. Also, the work experience is not helping much either since cap marks is such a cramped and small space, with only a fist-full of law firms , climbing up the ladder would be difficult. At this cross-roads, I am confused as to what should my trajectory be 4 months down the line , shall I stick to the practice area, although making a switch wouldnβt be a cake-walk since the pay at my current firm is almost at βpar with tier -2 standards in cap marks and t-1s this sudden would be a far cry. Would returning the gc/pe/vc, with a hike over my current pay be a viable option, since I was able to crack a few interviews in the past few months and discount my work-gap, since pe/vc and cap marks have a lot of operational similarities.
