Moreover, there is a lack of transparency in the hiring process of faculty members, adding to students' concerns about academic quality.
Administrative inefficiency is another persistent issue. Students representing the college in competitions face months-long delays in receiving reimbursements. The administration also shows no initiative in supporting the student-run Internship and Placement (IP) Cell. There has been little to no assistance in organizing placement drives, and the Vice-Chancellor has repeatedly failed to attend meetings with potential recruiters, including Tier-1 firms.
The college's leadership, particularly the Vice-Chancellor, has come under serious criticism. There has been virtually no engagement with students, and multiple instances of moral policing have been reported. An anonymous email circulated within the college alleged caste-based discrimination by the Vice-Chancellor, leading to the abrupt removal of the Registrar. Additionally, faculty members who disagreed with the Vice-Chancellor’s practices have allegedly been forced out of the institution. Lastly, there is no clarity or update on the development of the permanent campus, leaving students uncertain about their future learning environment.
The college is currently facing a wide range of structural and administrative issues that significantly hinder the academic and personal well-being of its students. Basic infrastructure remains inadequate, with classrooms lacking proper ventilation, functional air conditioning, and fans. There is also a severe shortage of classrooms, disrupting the regular conduct of classes. The library facilities are practically non-existent, with many crucial online databases remaining inaccessible due to expired subscriptions that the administration has failed to renew.
Students residing in hostels face equally troubling conditions. The two hostels are located 3–4 kilometers away from the academic block, with no hostel mess facility available. Additionally, hostel residents face arbitrary restrictions on their use of common spaces, contributing to a stifling living environment.
Mental health support on campus is grossly insufficient. There is a severe shortage of psychologists, with students often waiting up to three months to secure an appointment. Even when slots are available, sessions are scheduled post-6 PM, which requires students to commute from the hostel to campus, which is more than 4 kms of travel without any travel facilities available from the college.
While hiring professors they ask only two questions.
1) Do you speak Marathi?
2) Have you previously worked with DU?

"Mental health support on campus is grossly insufficient. " --- Most NLUs don't give any support at all.

For instance in CLAT 2025 the national-level law entrance test, no less where Justice Gavai himself had to ask in open court, “Which Vice-Chancellors are framing these questions?” and added, “All Vice-Chancellors sitting together calling themselves academicians of the highest repute.” It's beyond embarrassing -it's public knowledge now that the Vice-Chancellor of MNLU Mumbai was deeply involved in setting that paper, which turned into one of the biggest blunder in CLAT’s history
And honestly? It’s almost comical. The VC can’t even frame a CLAT question properly? 😂😂 This isn’t just incompetence anymore - it’s arrogance cloaked in silence and sold as leadership.
MNLU Mumbai isn’t a university it’s a crisis on autopilot -and students are paying the price every single day. Is he taking classes there too? Because if he is, god help students there. - I genuinely don’t know what’s going to be made out of you.
And let’s be honest - why would companies hire? If this is the quality of leadership at the top. They don’t need a placement brochure — they just need to Google CLAT 2025 Supreme Court hearing and boom, red flags everywhere.
It’s like saying, “Trust us, we’re a premier law school!” while the VC is out there failing MCQs and dodging placement meetings.
