There's a certain someone at my firm who was a partner for two months, but now back to being a Principal Associate. Rumour is going around that he got demoted. Are demotions common in law firms?
More important question is which firm is this - how is their standard for elevation of partners so poor that they are able to change their minds two months post facto?
Yeah, it's me. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
That's unfortunate. Usually such partners are asked to leave the firm.
Billable figures within 2 months were the reason? Sounds too off unless the firm is really cash-strapped and hunger striven.
It's Luthra, so it makes sense. Besides, the designation was Associate Partner, not straight-up partnership.
I've seen associates too get demoted back to being an intern.
Can confirm. Happened to a few PPO kids who got in through long-term articleship.
