Law is demanding because you are easily replaceable- the work is repetitive after a point, there is barely anything that can be categorised as true innovation, and when there are tons of ppl ready to replace you, the only way to prove your worth is to squeeze more work in the great equaliser of 24 hrs. Then starts the toxicity cycle
This is not the case in non-law workplaces, especially in case of a software engineer.
The biggest advantage is the ability to move countries, something we rarely get to do.
That Fintech engineer with 8PQE mostly has good to decent WLB. He/She will be having a family. IT/Tech is better in terms of WLB - weekends, logging off times, of course compared to any Law firms because of Western Culture. Is that possible in a tier 1 law firm? No.
With a tier 1 law firm job, it's practically impossible to raise a fully functional family. Most of 8QE (especially women) are unmarried, doesn't have kids or have a dysfunctional/on verge of divorce family life. Wheras in IT/Tech people can properly raise a family with that job.
It's better to compare the Tech guys salary to an in house lawyers salary. Because the level of stress and hours are similar.
Tier 1 law firm lifestyle is not sustainable in the long term. Even if you don't have a family, it's still hard to work at a tier 1 firm. It's highly stressful and intensive.
Just 1.8 lakh lawyers per annum
Even after IIM A/B/C, an average person ends up with an in-hand salary of 1.5-1.75 lakhs
Here, an average 23 year old is making this much without doing much effort in clat, law school and even work. It's a win-win situation for us, the faster you see this, the more you will be thankful even for lala firms
At same level even T2 lawyers get the same or more, T2 lawyers male almost 1.8x. while his peers may be earning more but even he has been a very bright engineer.
So why do people here keep comparing themselves to best finance jobs and spread sadness, imo it's a pretty decent take home we get (not saying it shouldn't be improved adjusting ppp from UK or US firms but even now it's a fairly decent job)
