yeah. cause anyone half way decent is chased away.
from what i hear, most teachers at most NLUs are absolutely trash
They call. They even visit and fight with teachers if student doesnt get good marks. Imagine a 20 year old sitting with parents asking teacher for attendance or marks.
Yeah. The warning bells have been ringing a long time, but I think Covid and online teaching really exacerbated things. Its not even just indian schools, its across the world. If you can abandon this sinking ship, why wouldnt you?
There's a difference between "put you on blast" and rating teachers as good & bad. We literally rate students good & bad by their marks.

To add some more context, you're responding to a teacher.
NLSIU faculty are mostly good on paper, not in teaching the students the things that matter.
Do parents really call university teachers? I thought that behaviour stopped at high school.
*It's mostly the uptight...ones who have an issue with that
You cannot use extreme examples that are outliers to justify a generalised practice.
Revolutionized your thinking and made your life better by teaching just one course? Is not slightly an over statement? The world deserves to know the names of such great teachers
Kind of true, but in my case, most of the students in our Tier 3 NLU used to play CS or scroll through facebook on our laptops.
It is fascinating that teachers are being names and shamed. and students are upvoting down voting. I know for sure, our education system is doomed now. And we all are together responsible.
The university you work at should implement a mandatory redundancy for just one person: you. Tell them from me that they are wasting their money by paying you, and only you.
Absolutely true. All it takes is one attentive teacher to transform students' barely-held assumptions into rigorous thinking. The film The Paper Chase is a wonderful portrayal of that.
Good point. I also remember my criminal law and constitutional law teachers even today. Kind of forgot about it.
Isn't it fascinating that we have come to this? When a physicist can give a lecture on quantam physics while streaming a game, this is nothing.

Today’s generation needs an AI chatbot teaching them over 2 minute reels, with Sabrina Carpenter or KPop as background music. That’s what our civilisation has come too.

Yeah, sometimes I feel that nothing we do matters even a bit. It's all just futile. A corporate lawyer at least has a sense of achievement closing a 25000 crore merger. Whereas we teach students for barely 3 months to have any impact on their lives.
That's because most students aren't really interested in learning, if they ever had been.
