Now to call someone “subversive” is to appreciate their intellectual eclecticism. There is nothing “subversive” about this forum. There are the occasional trolls, but nothing that would qualify as genuinely thought-provoking. This forum meets the standard of how rights are trivialised in the Indian discourse when citizens (including the so-called educated ones) are not interested in using them. One will find spirited debates here on class attendance policy but practically nothing on jurisprudence. I believe in the absoluteness of free speech. Suffice it to say, the interpreters of Indian constitution could not disagree more with me. Having said that, there is little consolation in fighting to achieve a right when others are not inclined to exercise it. Even here, among men and women of considerable intelligence and experience, it is difficult, if not impossible, to have a decent discussion on something as basic as bail and Indian jurisprudence.
