As per my experience, average bonuses vary from 2-2.5 months' salary with 3-3.5 months being the upper limit. At the junior level, this could range from 1.5 months' to 2.5 months' salary. Have heard that the Partners bonus ranges from 4.5 months' to 6 months' salary.
Would be grateful if other can share info about other disputes teams.
AZB and CAM pay the lowest across all levels in the tier 1 circuit so keep both of them out of the talk.
No clue about TT&A or S&R given how super exclusive they are to the cream folks who don't leave.
Bonus is paid in two tranches: 80% in March, 20% in May.
Fixed + Variable / Bonus = Salary
3 times of Salary = Target (pro rata) this means if you achieve 2 times of salary, you'll get 50% of your bonus.
6 times of Salary = 200% Target (pro rata) method is the same as above.
Billing is dependent on team so much so it's impossible to guess an average.
PS: Currently, Trilegal pays the highest in fixed component across all practice areas. Bonus wise, JSA and SAM are regarded as preferable options.
Exposure/ team atmosphere shape you as a professional/ person in the long run so as per me, this should be prioritised even if there's a compromise on salary.
Question 1: Please share how bonus is allocated among associates in SAM/CAM/AZB/KCO/Trilegal/S&R. In addition to your partner's review, what else matters? If I am an A1 at one of these firms, how much can I realistically expect if (a) My team achieves its billing target (b) if it is close to billing target. Also what is the ideal individual billing at A1 level.
Question 2: What are the expected bonus payment timelines? Some firms retain a certain percentage of bonuses which is distributed in April/June to as late as October, November.
If each of you can chip in about your individual firms, we will have a holistic idea about the market.
Thanks
