Be proactive but do not annoy seniors.
If you have questions to understand the task better, compile and collate the questions as to not disturb your senior.
Be super polite, friendly and approachable - lots of pleases and thank yous. This is of course for anyone, learn from the Canadians ;)
If there's a topical news update, send a summary of it to the team along with your analysis. Or send your analysis of some provisions of the DP Act - just as an example. This shows your eagerness and analytical skills.
Do not plagiarise, at any cost.
If this is a physical internship, dress well, reach office before time. Stay back until your senior is there in office. Do not try to leave early, it casts a poor impression. Negotiating WLB comes in once you have got a full-time role.
I am a 4th-year law student from a Tier 3 law college and I have secured an internship with Khaitan & Co. in their Corporate & Commercial team.
This is my first time interning at a Tier 1 law firm and in a corporate law setup and I got this opportunity through the application and interview.
I really want to make the most of this as it is hard to get an opportunity like this without any connections which I do not have and I hope to perform well and secure a PPO here

Specifically:
- Work expectations – What kind of tasks do interns typically get and how are we to go by them?
- Work environment – What is the culture like?
- Dos and Don’ts – Any key things to keep in mind to make a strong impression?
- General advice – What can I do to stand out and improve my chances of a PPO and more importantly, do I ask for it or do they offer it themselves?
