It is worth it if you focus purely on the academics and networking part of college, moving around to do other things on campus including college societies will take up enough of your time and sanity thereby excluding you from the top 10% (conservative figures). College offers good opportunities to grow and learn along the way and eventually get yourself in a good spot at the end of your final year depending on whether you want to pursue law firm jobs, practice or go for masters (abroad or domestic) provided you remain focused on your goals, there are many things on campus that can distract a person.

That being said, if you have got admission in any other college at equivalent levels, you should go for them, placements have not been the strongest suits of SLSP as of now. Wishing you the best of luck!

Study law anywhere, as long as you’re absolutely certain that you have the aptitude and inclination for it. The entrance exams and your ability to secure admission to one of the top seven NLUs serve as an excellent benchmark. If, after honest preparation and at most a second attempt, you still can’t make the cut, consider redirecting your time and resources toward a profession that better aligns with your strengths—because that’s where you’ll truly excel.

Please don’t waste your money on these ₹30-50 lakh programs just because you can (even with a loan). That would be a poor decision! Only consider institutions like SLS or JGLS if:

a) They offer you a substantial scholarship, and

b) You’ve managed to secure a top-seven NLU test score.

Know this—these institutions are in the business of selling education. There is little regulatory or independent oversight on the criteria they use to select candidates. Do not pursue law simply because you managed to get into such colleges; that alone is not reason enough.

India already has more lawyers than it needs. Joblessness is at an all-time high, and competition is fiercer than ever.

It’s high time the government and BCI shut down mediocre and underperforming law schools instead of opening new ones.

I have 16 years of work ex as an independent lawyer and my gross receipts were only 45 lakhs in the previous financial year. Litigation. My counterparts in corporate make 2x - a lot of which gets pissed away in rent, kids education and paying an EMI for a car. Taxable income - take half. Kharchas are cray cray in metros. Live in one. Have 0 in the bank and a few lakhs in ppf and stocks. I feel like shit.

Don't take a 30L loan for this. The market is oversaturated with lawyers and there's no room for mediocrity. Your symbi degree will keep you behind every NLU out there. Not worth 30 lakhs for sure.

Honestly, it depends. The college offers a ton of opportunities, such as a strong alumni network, helpful seniors, international moot court competitions, internships, and placements. But to really take advantage of these opportunities—especially internships and placements—you will need good grades. Ideally, you would want to be in the top 20% of your batch. While it's not impossible to get placed if you're outside the top 20%, it definitely makes the process smoother. SLSP has a great alumni network, which I have personally tapped into for internships. At the end of the day, your own efforts are what will truly help you stand out and succeed.

SLS Pune would, in an ideal scenario, cost you an extra 3 lakhs per annum (including your flat/PG, monthly food expenses, going back home if you are not from Pune, etc.) from other top law schools in the country since its fee structure does not include accommodation. If you can afford to take a drop, please go ahead and crack any of the top 3 national law schools. They are positioned in a much better manner in terms of reputation and opportunities.

If you ask me, I would not have changed a thing from the start (including not taking a gap year). However, you do need some luck along the way, and you should not be banking on that but on yourself.
