Regarding retaking clat, I'm a dropper already so would it be advisable to write the paper again (along w college) given the uncertainty of the last 2 years?

1. Placements- arguably the nost imp consideration. mnlu does not have a day zero scene yet, however i think we might in the next 2 years. Reason- firms simply dont want to take peoplw theough a 10 min intervirew from a college in mumbai when these srudents can intern and be asessed it foesnt have enough face valut yet for firms to be blindingly taking people.
sam, cam, khaitan, s&r all pick up 2-6 (variable, ewnds on firm) people each, every year from the 4th year. they get a fair chabce of proving yheir metal and labding a ppo.
In terma of jobs for the bo 25- around 30 odd people are placed - ppo + campus placement (some firms and companies do come yo conapuw but not on a single day- they come throughout the year)
In my bathc, a lot of us have cbs grom t1s, and potentially are expecting ppos to roll in soon
2. campus- v important consideration given that mnlu currently doesnt have one. We use the mtnl building as our college, and the hostel is yourspace a lil far (bueses arranged by college). earlier we had a hostel bulding right opposite oue college so we jever felt the need of a campuw per say (you cant miss what youve nver had lol) but now we do. Earlier the hostek+ college were both in hiranandani powai- an elite, lush neighbourhood, now the histek is un kanjurmarg- yoursoace has great services - acs, kitchen on every floor but the locality is not that great,.
The sports commutte rents out places for matches and out sports fests etc. Hostel is a 25 min local away from parel, and 40 mins from cst very cery possible to intern.
Admin - seguing from the last point, until now we got 1 month of exemption from college every sem to ibtern and students mostly missed another month on yheir own (while still meeting 70% criteria). now this has changed. studrnta can only miss 18 classes a sem - which means interning even once is a lil teicku because it means not taking a sinhle leave
overall, its not as problematic and nluo etc., but its v nascent they j dont have an sop yet. so they do fuck up here and there. overall, they’re fine but can be better
faculty- not very great. most are undersatnfing and all but barring a few (4-5) notable exceltions, dont expect brilliance. mediocre.
culture- this is j the 5th batch passing out, wo uou can imagine there isnt a very steing culture yet- everything’s very new gut goung in the rughr direftion no bullying and all that crap senior juniot support in terms of moots and othet things improving w time but jot thete yet. Likw most mid tier nlus we have a fest- local norhing fancy but fun. we have our fun because bombay ofc
location advantage- honestly, it does exist. It defo was felt more w the old pokicy- i have interned 6 months in the past one year 4 of which were during college. with the new policy too, the hostel is considerably cheaper than other acco in mumbai so its overall cheaper to intern and all + you get used to bombay so no shock value, we do have guest lectutea and all from partners often + competitions itganized by college and all
Okay I'll be completely honest here and I'll rule out the considerations and you can make your choice.
1. Jobs- The campus placement scene is not very good because we do not have a day z scene. Companies and firms usually come around the year to pick up people. They want us to intern because we're based in Bombay anyway. They do pick up around 2-6 each- khaitan, sam, cam, s&r etc, and they have a fair chance to land a job etc.
In terms of actual numbers, around 30-40 people have been placed in the batch of 2025. So the numbers are not great but I think we are getting there. We might have a day z in the next two to three years. In terms of the batch of 2026, a lot of us have callbacks and assessments at Tier 1 firms and are expecting ppos from Tier 1s to roll in soon.
1. Internships - Internships are convenient in Bombay, both during the semester and in off months. You can intern while staying in your hostel, and during breaks, it’s significantly more affordable. Under the old policy, we were allowed a one-month exemption per semester, and many students managed to intern for two months while maintaining 70% attendance. However, this has now changed. We can intern only once per semester now, and doing so means we can’t afford to miss any additional classes due to the attendance requirement. That said, we still get four months of internship breaks per year, which I think is sufficient for law school.
1. Admin - The admin is not really a pain like a lot of other colleges like NLUO, RGNUL etc. They're pretty fine. They're mostly pro-student, but they're very slow and bureaucratic like you expect from government colleges. Most importantly, they're very new and nascent, so they haven't figured their stuff out yet. Most of their complacency comes from the fact that they're extremely new, but otherwise it's fine. Things are a little slow, but there's no like anti-student approach at all in the admin.
1. Faculty - the faculty is, barring a few exceptions, 4-5 professors, mediocre at best. Do not expect brilliance. Again, they're not anti-student. They're quite understanding, but mediocrity is the norm here, not brilliance.
1. Culture- it's a very new college, we've only had five batches pass out, so it's very difficult to comment on it. It's still in its nascent stages, everything is building, etc. The senior- junior relationships in general, in terms of support for moots and other things, is developing slowly. Ragging and bullying scenes do not exist, but it's not the best because I've seen the culture at NUJS, NLS, etc., and it's better, but we are definitely getting there.
1. Location advantage- A lot of people sell this and it has become the buzzword for mnlu Mumbai, so I'll be completely honest. In terms of internships, there is absolutely a location advantage, especially with the old policy. I have interned six months out of the 12 in the past one year and I could have done more solely because it was so convenient for me because I live in Bombay and I could intern with college. It's also significantly cheaper. Even without the internship policy, in the internship months, it's significantly cheaper to live in the hostel and intern from there as compared to any other accommodation in Bombay, which is quite expensive. In general, we also have partners, etc., coming for competitions, for lectures, etc. There are also a lot of conferences, etc., organized by firms and other organizations, which are mostly in Bombay, so we do get the opportunity to attend them if one wants to. There is also no shock value, so while interning, we can completely focus on interning. Most importantly, it's extremely safe. Everything is quite accessible and Bombay as a city obviously has its pros and cons, so those come in.
1. Performance in Extracurriculars- we have been doing exceptionally well in Extracurriculars, especially Moot Courts and ADR. For the past two years, our Stetson and Jessup team has been qualifying for the World Rounds. In terms of negotiation also, we had a complete win at NLS NMC last year in all categories. We also won the NLUO negotiation competition, Jindal Khaitan negotiation competition this year. So, they've been doing quite well like that because of the senior-junior support system that has been increasing, because guidance is a very big part of it.
1. Campus- okay. Now, this is a little tricky because earlier we had one hostel building and one college building right opposite each other in Hiranandani. So, we never really felt the need of a campus, but you can't miss what you never had, I guess lol. But Hiranandani was a very lush, elite, safe locality. So, it was great and there were almost no complaints other than small irritants here and there. Like, late night, there was no place where we could actually study, etc. after 12 because the college closed and there was no common area other than the mess in the hostel. But the situation has completely changed now because now we live in the YourSpace hostel which is in a different locality which is not as good as Hiranandani and it's around 20 minutes away by road. So, there are buses arranged. I have been told that the new campus which is in oshiwara Goregaon is being built right now. I don't know how much time that will take though

Firm perception- Now this is very important because HR perception really matters in terms of hiring etc. We see that a lot of colleges have long-term relationships with firms like NLUO- saraf etc. MNLU has had a great relationship with a few firms like NDA. NDA has been partnering with Mediation Bombay which is the med-neg competition organized by the college for years now. Other than that we have seen great responses from CAM, SAM, khaitan, SNR in terms of giving internships and PPOs to MNLU students. So it's not like they're dying to give us jobs but they're not averse to us either.

Overall, it's a very new college, still in its building phase. Things might feel unorganized, but that’s expected as people find their footing. With time, as structures and SOPs fall into place, it has the potential to do really well. Given its limited resources, the college has been managing well—especially considering it's in Bombay, where the energy and hustle are undeniable. I don’t want to romanticize it, but the city's spirit is real, and it naturally pushes you to keep moving. Ultimately, the choice is yours.
