Don't do it. Simples. UPSC exam is far too unpredictable.
OP'S Post in another 3 years

"I left my T1 job for UPSC Prep, but was unable to crack the exam. Is there anyway I can find my way back into the industry? How can I explain the 3 year gap on my resume?"
Fair, have considered this too. How can I indeed?

Maybe start off in litigation? Or ask my firm for a year long sabbatical? Does that work?
Go for it, licking the boots of govt is far more rewarding than licking the boots of corporate masters.
Answer your calling, mate. Do not listen to the arm chair naysayers. Make peace with following your heart, and the eventual consequences that arise. Do not stumble over the baggage of the past, or your need for external validatory advice from this platform.
why not do some business - you can employ people and help others
If you really want to do it, do it without letting go of your job. Leave only when you are finally attending the FC at LBSNAA. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR JOB.
As someone who left the job thinking the same- don’t do it. It’s not about smartness it’s about consistency. Just don’t do it.
This is like watching thappad and divorcing your husband even if he didn’t slap you.
I thought there was a specific commenting policy against doxing people?
I wouldn't risk it. Even if you do everything right there's no certainty that's how random UPSC is.
