One of those things are not like others. Bring Dalit or South Indian or whatever is immutable characteristic. Being unmarried is definitionally not. Why is this a prejudice and refusing to house folks who want a place to shoot up drugs not? Lawyers should know better than to draw false analogies.

I don’t have any problem with people doing whatever they want to whoever will have them behind closed doors. But that same logic extends to businesses. Maybe they don’t want to be involved in prostitution rackets, maybe they have some moral beliefs they want to express - that’s completely fair. They should be able to do that. It’s a free country.

Pyaar gunah hain is a nice turn of phrase, but it is a lie. No one is being sent to jail for being in an unmarried relationship. It’s not a crime. What is happening is that a business is deciding to act in accordance with the morality of the community that it serves. You have different morality ? Start your own business, if other people feel like you maybe your hotels will be more popular and OYO will drop this matter eventually. The same freedom that gives them the right to deny service gives you the right to start your own business and provide service.

Yes, but where is the limit? Because it is Meerut, can OYO now say that hotels are permitte to deny services to Scheduled Castes? Or, what about transgenders? Or what about South Indians? And so on. Where does one draw the line for enforcing prejudice on things that are clearly legal and should not be discriminated against?

Leave aside the fact that many college students will be adversely affected by this (including NLUs and Jindal), isn't this a blatant disregard of privacy and personal freedoms? India is getting more and more of a crap place to live in day by day.
