1. How's JRF considered for NLUs? Is it really worth it to go for Full time PhD or go ahead with assistant professor still and continue PhD as part time?
2. Do JRF students in NLUs are in reality availing 60-80k from govt for their studies or is it just on papers and never really implemented?
3. How's the situation of current JRF students at NLUs? How feasible is it to take up full time PhD?
4. Does full time PhD require candidates to be in the campus on daily basis? Does it mean being stuck in that university for 3-4 years? What's the success rate of PhD students at NLUs?
2. The actual stipend is around 48k including HRA. It comes late at times, but it will be given straight to the university, so the scholar does not have to worry about it.
3 and 4. All public universities will need you to be there on campus on daily basis if you join as a JRF. Many will make you do loads of admin work too. A minimum of three years is expected for both full time and part time candidates. Success rate is fairly high because the bar is not very high. You should avoid making enemies of the faculty or the VC though since they would have a lot of pull to influence your presentations etc.
