But from what I have heard, careers after law—especially in the corporate sector—are gruelling, and many people end up hating their jobs. Associates at firms like SAM, CAM, and Khaitan frequently complain about the long hours and the lack of stimulation in their work. This makes me wonder whether the fancy jobs that most law school students aspire to are really worth it.
Do people who earn great money, find their job satisfying, and lead a healthy life even exist?
Not going to survive very long in T1 with that lack of attention to detail m’boy.
I am a T-1 associate. I have no clue about hardships faced by our fellows in chambers or low paying jobs. I can only imagine from the stories I've heard - it's gruesome.
T-1 tends to follow professionalism. Ofc, there will be exceptions like azb episode and CAM episode.
I advise everyone to at least work in one T-1 firm for 6 months, if you can. T-1 gives sense of peace that you can easily switch if things don't work out, decent money, facetime with talented and hardworking people, and indepency to afford things / foreign trips and whatnot. If you feel you're getting too much work or the extent of work / toxicity which is not worth the benefits, then leave and do something else.
No one should discount the fact that job at T-1 firms come with such benefits that the alternatives (litigation, llm, mba, chambers, etc.) are rarely able to catch up.
