One can't even listen to music peacefully without being labeled as elitist
If you think they're elitist, you're clearly in a bubble. Everyone in the demographic you and I are part of used to listen to them in the 90s. I've lived in several cities across India, and English music was the dominant form of entertainment. No one I knew listened to Punjabi pop (and I knew a lot of people).
But if you want to attack tastes, happy to pile on. What kind of books do you read? Please list them out and I'll tell you if they're weird or not. Who's your favourite YA author? Who's your favourite non- British European author? Which Latin American writer have you read at least 2 books of? Have you read an Oriya book lately, or a Tamil one (even English translations are OK)?

Just found this a bit weird. Punjabi pop is the hottest trending genre but they are mostly oblivious about it. And even among Western music the whole world listens to Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Bad Bunny but they are just meh about it. Though they do listen to Coldplay, especially the Gen Y partners.
Just my observations….
