If it's a silly question I apologize in advance. But do NLU students go for tours / industrial visits as a batch ? Or is such a concept completely non-existent?
No industrial tours, but in some courses like legal aid, ADR you are made to visit jails, orphanages, etc.
Why would you visit jails or orphanages for ADR? Maybe you would do it for legal methods. Or criminal law, family law or juvenile justice law.
Jails is a part of Prison Reform elective at NALSAR which has also been recognised and is a very prestigious program
Unfortunately, this excellent concept does not exist in government law schools because of the rotten admins that run them. Jindal offers overseas study tours to students, but you have to pay a lot. Thus, the short answer is that only rich kids have this privilege?
In many NLUs you get a tour to visit the High Court if it is not in the same city. Sometimes for other things like Forensics Lab, Central Jail etc
At jiggles they used to take us to JNU to attend lectures by professors who had written what we studied. Having said that, these were prof specific, not everyone went
