Imagine buying a Range Rover. Definitely the worst luxury car brand out there.
Is this range similar in other T1 firms like AZB, KCO and JSA? What is the pqe for a senior partner typically?
Salaried or equity partner? Seems low for equity, and high for salaried.
I suspect that number is somewhat exaggerated, as well as being pre-tax.
ignoring his tone, his point i think is fair, a cam partner ( cyril's son) said that a starting EQ partner makes 8 at cam on average so I'm guessing there are more than 20-25 but still obv just the very tip of the iceberg.
At Guj. HC, almost all of Seniors make 20 L per hearing.

UPWARDS OF 2 crores - newly made equity partner at T1.
Nope. The average salary of a 10 PQE warning normal lawyer is the proof
Atul Mathur alone takes >15cr pa home!! what are you smoking?
You're not too smart if you think only 20-25 such partners earn 10+ cr. Founders of boutique firms earn that much. Managing partners and senior partners in tier 1s cross that easily.
G Sanks is NOT going over 50 crore arguing consti cases bhai thoda real hojao
I wonder if earnings have increased one year on. Have we moved from 10cr + to 15cr+ (after tax) territory for most of the corporate names below? And from 50cr+ to 75cr+ for the litigation names? I can never seem to find my money printer when I need it.
Owning a flashy car is no measure. Stop looking at material things.
Because as late as the 1990s that's all existed?
Maybe or maybe not. Depends on different circumstances.
Yes. But pay will be lower than someone with 7 year PQE Tier 1 lawyer or 7 year PQE consultant
Hi, why are the tax calcs wrong? Do partners pay tax at a lower rate? Thanks.
If someone earns 10 crores post tax a year for 4 years, then a Maybach is eminently affordable. They don’t have to make 25 crores a year for that….
That β€œif” in your post is doing a lot of work. Raj and Gopal don’t earn anywhere close to 50 crores per year! No idea about Sajjan.
HAHAHA, BRO IAS OFFICERS KEEP 10 TIMES THAT AMOUNT IN CASH AND PROPERTIES. THIS IS INDIA
There are other equity partners in AZB who come in sports cars
you are not familiar then. Top lawyers take cash, dump it in multiple assets, ask clients for transfer of equity, real estate, directorship and what not. Its not just money being transferred to your bank account.
that really depends. I come from Cal and even though it is a poor state, lawyers here make much much more than that figure. That non-nlu ones. Litigation is a lot about hardwork and contacts.
funny how this list is either NLS alum or non-nlu ones lol
why would you lie about being a non-law student? if you have a query, just ask. The post clearly isn't posted by someone not familiar with law firms
Ok. But if someone is good with maths, is MBA good choice? After 7 PQE?
If Manan is making15 then Dubey must be making 5. But Devaki is not making 5.
Yash J Ashar comes in a blacked out Mercedes S class Maybach to CAM. It costs around 3.5-4 crores on road in Mumbai. You can get the idea how much someone earns post taxes if they can afford a Maybach. ;)
15 crores post tax isn’t high at all for the top corporate lawyers in India. If lawyers like Rajshekhar Rau, G Shanks, Poovayya earns upwards of 50cr+ PA, why can’t the likes of Ashwath Rau, Menon, Kosturi Ghosh earn atleast half of that?
my uncles are not even senior advocates and have double that amount in cash and properties
Contact me I can help you manage 100 crore plus of cash

You're really gullible to believe a lawyer would take 2 crores in check and would keep the rest of 8 crores in cash. You possibly can't keep that much cash at home.
He has 7 partners, in which 4 are equity so 12 crores plus 3 crores for 3 junior partners. For 40 retainers the expenses will 10 crores. So total will be 15+15+10= 40 Crores. Phir Chacha Kya sirf 20 Crores Rakhega.
MBA karle wala people just want to eliminate competition. They are not acting in good faith. For a law student that can't do math, MBA will be hellish
L Vishwanathan has a GLS. Not sure about the others though.
are you from the pre 2015 era? things have changed unc since
omg you are so gullible to think that reported income is the total income for criminal lawyers
Utter rubbish. Top 10% of Advocates of any HC, regardless of any state make upwards of 10Cr a year. Learn some practical ground realities and then speak.
What about these:

LV, RBJ, Amit Kapur, Nishant Parikh? Any more?
Add Kosturi Ghosh. She has 3 Porsches and 1 Mini Cooper.

Na main samjha, na main jaana

Jo bhi tumne mujhse kahaa hai Senorita..

Magar phir bhi, na jaane kyun

Mujhe sunke, accha laga hai senorita...
Senorita? Also buddy most advocates won't even make 1 crore even after 20 years of practice at HC of poorer states. Only in a select few HC like Bombay and Delhi, advocates make a bank and only a select few are able to earn more than a crore.
So the pay depends on their senorita? I guess its true that behind every successful man…
You’re forgetting about Manan Lahoty i guess. He easily makes 15-18 crores PA. He comes in his 3.5 crores range rover to CAM office. (he is coming with some special these days in his car)
Ashwath Rau, Manan Lahoty, Yash J Ashar, Raghubir Menon, Akshay Chudasama, Iqbal Khan, Sandeep Mehta, Reeba, Nisha Kaur Uberoi, Naval Chopra. All of them earn north of 10 crores+ post tax and come to office in luxury cars.

Earning that kind of money in Delhi-NCR is crazy
my partner at a Tier 2 in Mumbai gets 75L if he meets his targets i.e. 3 crore.
Chacha, provide guidance on avenues that open up after MBA, particularly for lawyers who are weak at Maths. People asking for MBA guidance recieve 0 guidance on this platform except for the same parroted Mantra 'MBA kar le' like it's a cult.
My salaried partner (1 year into partnership) at a lala form in Max Towers earns around 1.5Cr PA.
Then what do the usual corporate partners in Tier 1 or 2 would earn? I mean is it 5-7 crore or 3-4 crore or 1-2 crore. I understand it might vary based on seniority but let's say in first five years of partnership, followed by 5-10 years into partnership.
Law is a super saturated field if someone wants to work in corporates. The exit options are less and the legal teams in mnc and psu are nothing more than cost centres and paper pushers. One should consider mba it provides a larger spectrum of industries and roles.
One has to living in a fools paradise to hope to earn 10 cr + without starting their own venture.
