Wtf this is illegal, never heard this happening in a law firm. What sort of college are you in?
A lock in for an employment contract is not enforceable. Neither is the indemnity. This isn’t even a grey area.
What our guy is saying is take that job and sack them if you get a better offer; without any repercussions
the employer can claim back the money spent on training if the employee leaves job within "a short period of time" (Del HC said in an obiter that 2 yrs is a reasonably short period)
It is legal if the employer incurs any expenses for the training of the employees making the employer claim damages, in case the firm does not provide any training by incurring expenses which is very likely, that makes it illegal
AFAIK, A lock in period for an employment contract is legal. However, for a retainer, it is not. As most firms hire on a retainer basis, a lock in will not be enforceable.
It's not enforceable (and nothing more than waste of ink and paper). Pretend like it's one of those red/green signal on a one-way road and move on!
That ain't enforceable but HR threatened that law is small circle, we will ruin you career if you leave early, everyone comes for BG checks
