We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Where ambition soars and souls run dry,
An associate, a friend, fell, unheard, unseen,
And life went on like it had always been.
Two partners passed with cold, blank eyes,
No whispered prayers, no heavy sighs.
The Senior Associate and HR, with concern so wide,
Plays nice now, but the mask belied.
The whispers cut through their thin façade,
For everyone knew, behind the charade—
In this kingdom of billable hours and fees,
Compassion’s currency falls to its knees.
Let the people know.
Law firms do need to focus more on mental health, stop over promising to clients and try for a semblance of work life balance. And seniors need to stop yelling at juniors or being aggressive for the smallest of things.
I do not know if the death of this associate a mere 10 days after he left a high performing overburdened always busy corporate team in a law firm is connected. What I know is that he left because it was getting too much for him. Whether that was because he had other personal issues or if work culture alone contributed is mere speculation.
To headline the loss of life with such indifference is saddening.

And hell to Big law which killed him.
