It was a very disheartening phase. I stayed at home, felt lost, and even considered litigation as a last resort, though I knew it was not what I truly wanted. Still, I kept trying. I spent my time researching, writing papers, getting them published if I got lucky, and turning them into writing samples while continuing to apply for opportunities.
Eventually, I shifted my focus to internships, hoping they would lead to something full-time. After two internships, I still did not immediately get a job, but the connections I built during that time helped. Someone I had worked with referred me for an opportunity because they trusted my work, and that is how I landed my first job.
So my advise is don’t lose hope. Three months is still early. Keep applying, keep learning, and keep putting yourself out there. Things can take time, but opportunities do come. All the best!
However recently, I got an offer for a data annotation job with a ₹4 LPA salary on Naukri, but I let it pass because it was unrelated to law, and I worried it might be undermining my education so far. Plus the salary was on the lower side. That said, I’ve started wondering if I made the right call. What if I never find a legal job? It’s already the 3rd month since graduation, and I haven’t even gotten a single interview yet.
A distant relative suggested I work under an advocate for a few years and then move to an in-house role later, saying it might be easier to start with litigation. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Would working with an advocate really help me get into an in-house position eventually? And if so, what kind of advocate should I be looking for?
I’ve also started contemplating about giving up on law and switching to another field altogether. But if not law, then what? I don't have any particular aptitude/interest elsewhere.. plus I'm already 25. My folks are also not too supportive.
Any advice or suggestions on this?
