The Establishment (political differences don't matter here) is concerned that spontaneous and sustained public support may wake people into questioning the need for politicians and 'the system" currently in place - whoever wins, public gets slaughtered.
Chaos is disruptive. But it can also overturn the Establishment apple cart. But don't worry, the doctors have been outsmarted, as expected. They are just being petulant now.
