This should be super important. I am recently seeing that this has become a trend to overhire and then silently fire junior associates for cost cutting. Many juniors reject offers to be with these firms and then they are left dumbfounded when they are asked to leave.
Is this true? Do people resign or get fired?
They resign because of too much stress - indirect firing indeed
Crawford Bayley undoubtedly. Specifically the cap marks team
Never heard people getting fired here. Kuch bhi??
Possibly CAM, considering how many goddamn students they hire every year
Can we also make a list of Associates who over promise and under deliver and also those who whine incessantly.
So complaining about a firm firing indiscriminately as a internal policy is "whining"?
Great,The equit partner whose only job is to keep issuing orders is here to highlight,or order, thta list of "whiny" and "non performing"associates list must be made first before list of firms.
I don’t know what is more nauseatic- this comment or the 30 likes on it
can we make a list of firm who promise of handing ppo or assessment or making associate while handing out trainee associate tag just to exploit young people for free or peanuts
Is it a bad place to be? Talking abt Ggn office
Tier 1 culture..

It's clients who make T1s what they are.. they don't really have better lawyers, just lawyers with more experience, creating this vicious cycle.
Trilegal, AZB, ICUL, Anagram, Luthra

Are common ones.

Give me something newwwww
can second for one of the erstwhile team at Luthra which is notorious for this
must be the Insolvency team,, they let go of associates due to no work lol
is this the team that has moved to Phoenix?
better to cut costs instead of going bankrupt

good lawyers do not struggle to find another job
Banking and Finance, Mumbai is notorious for this
I don't think this is true in all teams/locations. In Bangalore, a team I interned with as my first corporate internship (I have since graduated) still has the same people + newbies. No one was fired, plus no attrition.
SUPER IMPORTANT ! All Placement Cells should consider not considering their recruitment/internship calls, if all they do is hire senior laterals to let go juniors
Trilegal b&f, RE, DT teams. Notorious for doing that.
spn legal. Their every 3rd post is an associate joining.
Begur & Partners. Most Associates struggle to keep up with the extremely high standards at the firm. Which is why a position at this firm is one of the most sought after in the country.
It's true. Rajesh Begur is widely considered to be one of the most alpha lawyers going around. Clients supposedly are willing to give him a blank cheque.
Worst law firm PR ever. Begur bhai, fire this person.
From personal experience it happens alot in SAM Mumbai cap marks
exactly why almost anyone can get into SAM Cap Marks
How is the SAM Mumbai CM team otherwise? Is it hard to get in?
S&R had a bunch of soft firings last year but it included people at all levels not just freshers.
They fired a bunch in cap marks surely due to no work lol
That’s not true lol. People have left because of too much work but those associates were fired because…performance issues.
finally a worthwhile thread, but sadly the mods will cut it down after firm HRs notice
Only at junior associate level, otherwise never
They over hire and under deliver each year. Where big firms can hire 80 freshers in one shot, frankly JSA doesn’t have the appetite of hiring even 8.
An open and well known policy in this firm. Hire plenty freshers, 50% fire by probation end period, at end of the year retain only top 4-5 across firm.

Start the same thing again. They have a consultant who preaches this at an already no-ethics place.
Nobody in T1 firms has the time to train juniors
Hey Senior Lawyer,

I know who you are, and the truth is you ain't good at what you do - so stop giving this gyan here.

It's sad that I can't write your name and your 'Kartoots' here.

You are a dalal/ dali.
Then get better at hiring freshers. We've all experienced dealing with your clueless AF HRs. Pay for better HRs, maybe someone who's actually been in an NLU and later shifted to management, and you can save much more on attrition.
The exact attitude which will continue to ensure that so-called Indian T1 firms will forever mean hash on a global stage. Alright, if that's what you want - being nothing better than a sweatshop - fine!
stop hiring people from the jack or from the network or who are related to the partner or senior partner
AZB, AP & Partners, Saikrishna & Associates
If you were referring to Lks, then yeah the hr has quit as well along with several partners and associates. Don’t know what cooking up there
Resignations are scattered across its multiple offices which is very natural. Its not exactly like ppl in the same team resigning. Head of HR and one more guy, did leave for Pwc. Resignation season would be at its peak around the bonus time, it is natural.
AZB Delhi, Saikrishna Delhi, S&R Delhi, Trilegal Bombay, Trilegal Competition team Delhi
Obhan & Associates

They hire in bulk (for a boutique law firm) and then nit pick and fire people ▮▮▮
