Feel free to cherry pick stuff - people in the T3/T4 cities in China are constantly looking to move out now that the Millenials and GenZ are the 'young working' generation, especially more now that the property market and other markets are crashing. Even if we take your point for granted, in India, how does Mumbai compare to OTHER Indian cities? Delhi? Bangalore? Gurgaon? Hyderabad?

In most people's opinion, Mumbai is a balance of everything and weighs much higher for safety (women and general). Of course, some people value certain things over others and choose other cities, and that is perfectly fine. Having a hate b*ner for a city that is the financial lifeline of India does no one any good. All said and done we are long ways from even standing on the same pedestal as Chinese T1 cities for.... anything except individual freedoms. I personally love Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai and have a grudging respect for Chandigarh, even though it feels souless (my own opinion, feel free to scoff). If you can't tell, I place planned cities on a pedestal.

If you're getting into the profession, please never make such connections again. We can be sad that aesthetically, a lesser known Chinese city looks much better than one of our top metros, but we have to also make sure that we compare apples to apples. If I had to critique myself, it would be that I need to draft stuff better; we all have stuff we need to get better at.

Mumbai is a shithole. But what option do we have otherwise? Live in villages and towns? All of India is in shambles. With the law firm salary even after becoming a partner, can't live on Altamount Road or Amrita Shergill Marg. Our lives will be spent catering to clients, who will often be as rich if not more than us. We'll always be working under a lala, because we don't have rich daddies. An in all this, our lives will be spent. Just a dick measuring contest we will continue to have, but just because we passed from a good college doesn't mean we have the biggest dick. There are others whose dicks are many times ours and who fuck more than us. Same is the situation on comparison with China.

The only solution is to listen to the tunes of Jai Santoshi Maa and go to peaceful sleep

Because China has developed its small towns, the pressure for people to migrate to Beijing and Shanghai is less, so the population of Beijing and Shanghai are manageable and there is a lot of free space for building good infrastructure. The cities are also clean.

In comparison, in India, the whole country is migrating to NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru, because they aren’t many opportunities in other cities. So these cities become overpopulated and there is no scope for good infrastructure. Plus there are slum dwellers squatting on hundreds of acres of land, add to that illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants. Total chaos. The cities are also dirty, especially because a lot of the people moving there are uneducated with no knowledge of sanitation and hygiene.
