BIG BIG BIG news for the following reasons:
- The culture of seniority in India has meant that Kapil Sibal has so far monopolised all the time in the SC. Geeta Luthra, although a very respected lawyer, has unfortunately been pushed to the sidelines and just been given a few minutes to speak. Karuna Nundy, who is representing a second set of protesting doctors, hardly got any time at all. Meanwhile, Tushar Mehta was as good as silent. Now someone of equal stature as Sibal, who takes no crap from anyone, just entered the ring! 💪💪💪 Literally Peter Pettigrew meets Minerva McGonagall!! 🧙🪄
- The protesting doctors were asked to resume work by DYC but haven’t done so. Now if DYC wants to punish them for contempt, he will have to contend with Indira first … and at a time when she has just written an oped in the Indian Express blasting him for meeting Modi. 🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈🍿🍿🍿

- The one opposing lawyer who did give it to Sibal was Phiroze Edulji, who pointed out a big flaw in the investigation that even Tushar Mehta had missed. It was partly on the basis of this flaw that two big arrests were made yesterday. Now you will have Indira-Phiroze versus Sibal-Menaka!
- Finally, Indira’s involvement effectively splits the left. There is clearly a principled left (based in Bengal) that is opposed to Mamata and an opportunistic left (based in Lutyens Delhi) that is working with her. The latter side is fast losing credibility.
