I said this in my first week, and to the partner, counsel and SAs. Think about it logically; A0-A3s are very easy to make a mark on (age, experience, approachability) but their reference wouldn’t hold as much weight when compared to the feedback the team’s partner/counsel would have on you (assuming you did considerable, quality work for the partner).
To the original commenter, yes quality work is important, but just performing quality work for the A0-A3s barely makes a mark. Target the higher ups in the pecking order - SA, PAs, Counsels and your Partner. Make it amply clear that you WANT to get placed in the team. And then there’s the whole ordeal of 2 interviews, which you have to clear.
